Upton

The Upton area to the west of Northampton is designated by English Partnerships to "Promote best practice in urban design." The scheme was won in competition and consists of 49 units ranging from 2 to 6 bedroom houses; a mix of and affordable tenures.

The primary design focus was to produce attractive, cost-efficient dwellings whose sustainability and energy efficiency features include sun-spaces for passive solar gain, solar thermal panels, photovoltaic panels, whole house ventilation and rainwater harvesting.

A Sustainable Urban Drainage System, green roofs and communal landscaped areas contribute to an enhancement of the local ecology, as well as promoting a sense of community and residents stewardship.

Avebury's design enabled KingsOak Homes to secure the land competition with an economically viable best offer.
